TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF

I’m a serial entrepreneur and the CEO of Exterus Persona, graduate of Economics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.

HOW DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR CRAFT?

By nature I am easily inspired and motivated to try new craft. In February of 2015, a friend and I went shopping at the mall in the UK where we made a purchase of a perfume bottle. Upon completion of the purchase, the sales representative asked us if we’d like it personalised and upon further enquiry she informed us that it takes under 5minutes to have the bottle engraved. We were intrigued at the efficiency & beauty and piqued my interest to research more on it.

DO YOU HAVE A MENTOR?

Yes I do. I found a tutor based in America, who became my Mentor and tutor. His name is Ken Brown and he has been engraving for decades.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MEDIUM?

Yes, I enjoy engraving on glass surfaces as opposed to wood, metal and steel.

TELL US ABOUT A MEMORABLE WORK?

A whiskey brand who had an activation gave me over 200 bottles to complete overnight. It was exciting as they were amongst the first set of clients I had and this job tested and exhibited my skills and their compliments motivated me to continue.

WHICH ASPECT IS DEMANDING; STARTING OR FINISHING A PROJECT?

Starting the project. The clients often have different expectations and as an artisan, Its my duty to actualise those expectations.

HOW DO YOU FEEL YOUR SOCIETY AFFECTS YOUR INDUSTRY?

The society is welcoming and accomodating. During my research in 2015, there weren’t a lot of artists in this field and the clients patronising these art were slim but over the years, there is evidence of substantial growth.

DO YOU FEEL THERE’S A GOOD SUPPORT ATMOSPHERE BETWEEN ARTISTS?

Yes there is comradeship between artists.

WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING PART OF WHAT YOU DO?

The gratitude of the clients when they receive their work and I have been able to exceed their expectations.

ONE THING YOU HOPE TO IMPROVE ON IN YOUR INDUSTRY?

Building a stronger art community where artists are free to express themselves.
