TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
My stage name is Tayo Creed, from Surulere, Lagos.
HOW DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR CRAFT?
When I was younger, I enjoyed singing in the bathroom because the reverb sounded good to me & when I was 6, my dad gifted me an acoustic guitar. I didn’t take music seriously until 2020, during the covid lockdown because I wanted to hear something new.
WHAT’S YOUR STYLE & WHAT INSPIRES IT?
My distinct sound and style of music is a unique blend of Afrobeat, Rock, EDM & Pop. This unusual composition births new hybrid sounds called Afro-Synthwave & Alté Rock. Curiosity & sonic innovation weaved with life experiences inspires me to create.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN BEING AN AFRICAN ROCKSTAR?
It’s about representing the unfiltered experiences & emotions of an African, telling stories that often go untold, & using innovative music to amplify the voices of the unheard.
YOUR CHALLENGES AS A CREATIVE?
Finding the right partners who share the vision and are willing to collaborate to achieve the dream. These days many care about viral sensations & numbers instead of building something that will stand the test of time.
HOW DOES YOUR SOCIETY AFFECT YOUR INDUSTRY?
There is a pressure on talents caused by personal lust of fame and income priority by the label to create formula music which can sometimes overshadow the pursuit of authentic artistic expression. It’s crucial for both artists & the industry to encourage adaptability and innovation.
MEMORABLE EVENT AS A CREATIVE
Meeting and working with Wurld before I released my first single felt amazing. He’s one of the artists that influenced my creative path.
DO YOU FEEL THERE’S A GOOD SUPPORT ATMOSPHERE WITHIN YOUR INDUSTRY?
It’s getting better; the world is paying attention to us and more people are interested in investing in African music.
MOST REWARDING PART OF WHAT YOU DO?
Being innovative feels good but touching lives with the music created is more rewarding.

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE GOALS FOR YOUR CRAFT
To amplify my music to touch more lives & inspire the next generation of African Rockstars.
