TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
I’m Kazeem Mumin O., native of Oyo State, a lecturer in Fine and Applied Arts Department at Federal College of Education (T.) Akoka, Lagos, and the facilitator of Mumin-Do Arts & Media Studio. My focus is on painting across mediums like oil, acrylic, charcoal, and pastels, with an emphasis on realism, landscapes, and semi-abstract work. I’ve showcased my art in several exhibitions, including at Nike Art Gallery USA (2024) and Mydrim Art Gallery (2023).
HOW DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR CRAFT
Having been mentor by professional and seasoned visual artist has been a very great point of contact to self-discovery of myself.
WHICH OF YOUR PROJECT CHALLENGED YOU THE MOST
Every new piece created has always been a challenge because the need to be better and improve on every creative output is always sort after and utmost priority.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHALLENGES AS A CREATIVE
To keep been prolific always pose a great challenge as present-day economic situation is really affecting a whole lot of things ranging from cost of art materials and getting the final consumer of the piece. However, challenges are there most times to make us stronger, we cannot run away from it as creative.
WHAT WAS A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE AS AN ARTIST
It was the day my course work (Painting) arouse from been the last in my class to the first among others as student during my NCE days in the college.
HOW DO YOU FEEL YOUR SOCIETY AFFECTS YOUR INDUSTRY
The society has begun to appreciate Art compare to the way it had been in the time past. Gone are the days when visual art is perceived to be an unserious profession, the narratives has changed totally.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN ART TUTOR
The need to give back to lives, empower and rekindle lights of others through art. Tutoring is another form of talents, not every great artist can tutor other on what they knew how to do.
SHARE A POSITIVE MOMENT YOU EXPERIENCED AS AN ART TUTOR
That moment when my mentee between 8years could draw like a professional artist. It was memorable because It was a milestone.

DO YOU FEEL THERE IS A GOOD SUPPORT ATMOSPHERE IN THE ART INDUSTRY
There are supports but not sufficient, we hope for a situation when it would go around every creative.

ONE THING YOU HOPE TO IMPROVE ON IN YOUR INDUSTRY
The need to be active in my professional association because I enjoy staying in my cocoon.
